Suiting Services Print E-mail

Our clients typically lack the resources to experience a ‘level playing field’ with other candidates during the job interview. First, they need an appropriate interview outfit and accessories and do not have the financial means to acquire them. Our clients come from circumstances such as drug and alcohol abuse to life-changing devastation of surviving a major natural catastrophe such as Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Wilma and most recently Ike.

Each client is afforded a suiting experience that assist them with support and confidence needed to see themselves as successful individuals in the world of work. We know that the right interview outfit is universal to successful employment. As a result, it is an essential piece of the job search. Studies show that a professional appearance promotes confidence, self-esteem, and dignity. It also contributes to making a positive impression and communicates a readiness for employment.

On his initial visit for services, a client receives a suit appropriate for the industry in which he is interviewing and, if available, gets accessories to finish the outfit such as shirt, tie, belt, shoes, and socks. After a client finds a job, he can return to CGH for additional work attire to continue building their working.

Each client will be given a scheduled suiting appointment through their job counselor or case manager. The CGH staff will then confirm the appointment with the client up to several days before they are actually scheduled.

As part of the suiting process, we ask that every client treat the appointment seriously and as a critical component in their job success. They are expected to:

  • Use the same protocol as they would with any employment appointment  such as they must be on time for the appointment;
  • Notify the CGH staff prior to the appointment time if they expect to be late or cancel the appointment at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule. If the client does not call prior to the appointment time, the client may not be suited;
  • Show they have executed proper hygiene to be suited.  Please take a shower or bath, have clean hair, clean nails, and clean shaven;
  • Exhibit professional language and respect to CGH staff;
  • Do not bring family or friends to the suiting appointment.

If these simple rules for suiting are not followed, clients will forfeit services and referring agency will be notified regarding the infraction.
