Star Networking Alumni Program Print E-mail
In 2008, CGH established SNAP (Star Alumni Networking Program), which offers men ongoing support to help them both find and keep their jobs. CGH launched this new initiative to assist and to help sustain clients while they are transitioning to gainful employment, working towards maintaining successful employment, and rebuilding their personal lives.

The networking experiences help to shape the person from the inside out with renewed dignity that includes finding oneself - self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth. The service also adds long-term connectivity between successful clients, approved job-ready referral agencies, and our organization at a local and national level.

The program builds upon clients’ current successes of searching their goal - a job - by offering networking workshops immediately following their initial suiting appointment. Each client is invited to join a weekly workshop that covers topics essential to become self-sufficient such as time management, financial planning, interviewing skills, job retention techniques, and networking experiences.

As men sustain their employment and attend the weekly meetings, they are encouraged to continue the networking experience by attending monthly alumni meetings for additional workplace and life skills necessary in a man’s journey towards complete economic independence and security.

In addition, we provide half-day and full-day educational/training workshops to increase a man’s personal and professional awareness as it relates to the rewarding career in the world of work.

Once a man joins the program, he is a member for live and benefits from additional retention programs. We served over 200 clients in its initial start-up in 2008 and hope to continue building and improving men’s lives in 2009 which in turn positively impacts their families and the communities.
