Ms. Pfaff was involved in state and federal grant-funded workforce program, CareerStart, while Director at Lone Star College – North Harris beginning in 1999. In 2001, the program started serving non-custodial parents, which were typically men and needed assistance with the interview outfit to land a job. She found that Houston lack the resources for these male clients once they were ready for a job interview or a job fair. She discovered there were many “clothes closets” and second-hand men shops, but none provided the services at no charge.

After much research and support from business partners, CGH was founded and began to serve its first clients in mid-June 2004. Ms. Pfaff moved to the hill country in 2005 and continues to support the organization with grant writing, organizational support and consultation, and as its board chair.

Donna Reasonover, J.D.
Executive Director

Ms. Reasonover’s is responsible for the organization’s day-to-day management that includes client services, budget oversight, and overall outreach activities. She is also responsible for seeking new funding opportunities including writing grants for the agency. Ms. Reasonover has extensive experience in grants management, social service programs, and client services operations. As a founding board member, she has transitioned from Acting Executive Director in a volunteer capacity to Career Gear’s first Executive Director.

Malcolm Thomas
Coordinator, Client Services

Mr. Thomas joined the agency in March, 2008 with his primary responsibilities to help deliver the services for a new project, Star Networking and Alumni Program (SNAP). He provides daily direct client services for all aspects of the organization and assists the Executive Director with additional outreach events.
