Jimmy Adams, Ph.D. – Interim Secretary

With over 20 years in the graphics arts field and the last seven years as a faulty instructor and administrator, Mr. Adams has served in two divisions at Lone Star College System - North Harris located in northern part of Harris county in Houston, Texas. He has recently completed his Ph.D. at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas in the field of Community College Administration. Mr. Adams joined the board in 2005 and provides his graphic arts and marketing expertise in the area of Marketing and Public Relations.

 

Bernard L. Bynum Jr., RPh. - Director

Mr. Bynum culminated a 32-year career with Merck & Co., Inc. which during his tenure he served in many positions including sales and marketing. He retired as District Manager for the Vaccine Division in Houston, Texas. Mr. Bynum is a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and is a registered Pharmacist in the states of Louisiana and Texas. His hobbies include woodworking, golf, handyman projects and volunteering. Mr. Bynum has been active with non-profits in the Kingwood area and has joined the board in March, 2008. He will co-chair this year’s fundraiser event, Second Annual Career Gear Houston Golf Charity, to be held at the Kingwood Country Club on Friday, October 10, 2009. Mr. Bynum brings with him years of management and sales expertise to the organization within the area of Community Outreach.

 

Gina Fish, R.N. – Director

Ms. Fish has extensive medical experience as an Assistant Manager/Charge Nurse in Birmingham, Alabama, San Francisco, California and Houston, TX. She has a B.S.N. and a R.N. from the University of Texas and currently is the Leadership Division Chair for the Annual Fund at St. Thomas Episcopal School and Team Parent at two schools. Ms. Fish has an interior design business, CHIAFFREDO, and is also a CANDLELIGHTERS Adopt-a-Family volunteer. She was a committee member and Silent Auction chair of our first fundraiser event, 1st Annual Career Gear Houston Golf Charity, held at Golf Club at Cinco Ranch in Katy, Texas on October 10, 2008 and will be for this year’s fundraiser event, 2nd Annual Career Gear Houston Golf Charity, to be held at the Kingwood Country Club on Friday, October 10, 2009. She joined the board in May, 2007 and brings with her years of expertise serving non-profit boards and chairing various fundraisers.

 

Peter Foster – Vice President

In his professional life, Mr. Foster has spent his 30 year career in the energy industry primarily working in oil exploration and production for Shell, BP and Halliburton. Since 2005 Peter has been an independent business consultant with Qittitut Consulting, helping companies grow in the energy service sector. Part of his role with Qittitut is training sales and marketing staff, a skill which he has brought to Career Gear Houston initially in the role of volunteer for training workshops for clients in job hunting and interview skills. Peter joins the CGH board in March, 2009 with a history as a top fundraiser for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. He has continued his fundraising expertise as CGH's first fundraising chair for its 1st Annual Golf Charity Event held in October of 2008 at Golf Club at Cinco Ranch in Katy, Texas. He will co-chair this year’s fundraiser event, Second Annual Career Gear Houston Golf Charity, to be held at the Kingwood Country Club on Friday, October 10, 2009.

 

Christine Pfaff - President - President

With over 15 years in the educational and non-profit sector, Ms. Pfaff provides her expertise with the board, grants writing and consultants on special projects for the organization. Ms. Pfaff has a Master of Science in Occupational Technology with Training and Development from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Connecticut State University. She currently lives in the Texas Hill country and is independent consultant/trainer serving the greater San Antonio area and works part-time for Northwest Vista College in San Antonio as Adjunct Faculty. Ms. Pfaff is the founder and acts as its first president.
