OUR HISTORY

Career Gear Houston was established in 2004 to address a critical gap in resources for men preparing for job interviews and career opportunities. Recognizing the lack of access to interview-appropriate attire and job readiness training, local leaders took action. After a pivotal meeting with Gary Field, the national founder and executive director of Career Gear, the Houston affiliate was launched—committed to equipping men with the tools and confidence needed to achieve long-term success.

 Career Gear Houston has remained committed to empowering men on their journey from poverty to self-sufficiency. Through strong partnerships with job training programs and community-based organizations, we provide high-impact, cost-effective solutions that support individuals in securing meaningful employment. Thanks to our mission—both past and present—we have helped over 40,000 men build brighter futures, achieve financial independence, and become leaders in their communities.
