Our success is measured in new careers
Brian Broussard TestimoneyI joined the Navy for a few reasons; to serve my country, to move on to something different, and to work on electronics. I served for nearly 27 years and moved up from E-1 to E-8, Senior Chief Petty Officer (SCPO). My last position or command I was the Command Senior Enlisted Leader. It was a challenging yet great learning experience.
Once I retired, I began submitting and applying for jobs. I actually started a few months prior to retirement. It took quite a while until I landed my first job as a Plant Manager at a Cement Company. While working there, I found out about Career Gear and Mission Possible from a friend of mine, Chris Perez, who is also a retired from the Army. I thought this is an amazing organization which helps Veterans and young adults. I contacted them immediately to sign up for their next available class. |
I attended their class in August, and “Seaman Stephen Freeman From Cleveland” was our Facilitator and was an awesome one at that! They taught us resume writing techniques, interview techniques, elevator pitches, how to network, and much more. Their SuitUp & GearUp experience was smooth and they were very helpful in ensuring everything not only fit well, but that I looked professional. This really built and increased my confidence in myself. It was a transformation to say the least!
Utilizing the interview techniques that Mission Possible and the Military taught me, really prepared me going in to my first interview. Technically, I had two small pre-interviews, and then two follow on interviews with my now Boss and Team, and then My Boss’s Boss. I felt confident and was able to knock the interviews out of the park!
Thanks to Mission Possible, and Career Gear, along with my military skills and resume writing skills, it paved the way for me to have a professional job/career. I can now proudly and humbly say I am a Vice President at the JP Morgan Chase Firm.
Thank you, Mission Possible/Career Gear!
I will be spreading the word about your organization to any veterans I know in the Houston area.
All the best,
Brian
